Important Safety Information

Boxed Warning: Risk of Thyroid C-Cell Tumors

In studies in rodents, tirzepatide caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is not known whether tirzepatide causes such tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans. Do not use tirzepatide if you or any of your family members have a history of MTC or have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Do not use if you

  • have a personal or family history of MTC or MEN 2;
  • have had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients.

Talk to your clinician before use if you

have or have had problems with your pancreas (pancreatitis) or gallbladder, kidney problems, diabetic retinopathy, or are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.

Possible serious side effects

Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially if used with insulin or a sulfonylurea), kidney injury (often related to dehydration from nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea), serious allergic reactions, and changes in vision. Seek medical attention for severe or persistent symptoms.

Common side effects

Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, and indigestion.
